Students' unions put together social events, sports, and societies for a wide range of different hobbies and interests. Find out more here.
Students' unions are run by reps elected by students, and they're responsible for representing you – so you can go to them for all kinds of support.

Join a society

Many students' unions have lots of different clubs and societies you can get involved in – anything from street dance and rowing, to marketing or international.

  • These are great for getting to know new people and as extra-curricular activities.
  • You can take part in projects, competitions, tournaments, or social events.

Look for jobs

They often list volunteering and employment opportunities too – either roles within the students' union or course provider, or external vacancies they recommend.

So it's a handy first place to look if you're interested in work possibilities.

National Union of Students (NUS)

The NUS is a voluntary membership organisation which promotes, defends and extends the rights of students and develops and champions strong students’ unions.

Many students' unions are part of the NUS.
